APPLICATION
OVERVIEW AND GUIDELINES
Before filling out an application
for DramaRama, please note: DramaRama
is a PRESENTING ORGANIZATION, not
a PRODUCING ORGANIZATION. We provide
a space for you and your performers to
present your latest work. Due to numerous
constraints, we don't have the resources
to provide you with directors, actors,
or dancers. In short, we showcase finished
performance works; we cannot assist in
the mounting of those works.
MISSION
DramaRama is a nonprofit organization
that exists to encourage new work in
the performing arts. DramaRama’s annual
performing arts festival offers artists
from New Orleans and beyond a nurturing
environment in which to present their
latest work. DramaRama also strives to
increase theatre audiences by producing
performance events that reflect the diversity
of our community.
ELIGIBILITY
& SELECTION
DramaRama is open to individual artists
as well as performing arts companies.
Works ranging from traditional theatre
to experimental performance and dance
are welcome. Works performed previously
in DramaRama are ineligible. Proposals
will be judged on a number of criteria
such as artistic quality, experimentation,
and innovation. Visual documentation
and work samples are not required, but
are highly encouraged for the selection
process. Proposed works may range
from five to 30 minutes. Jurors will
select works based on the time and space
available. Outstanding works will receive
featured times and spaces. Artists who
were featured last year are ineligible
to be featured again this year.
HONORARIA
Participating artists will receive an
honorarium, based on a share of admission
revenue. The amount of the honorarium
varies from year to year, depending on
funding and other circumstances.
REQUIREMENTS
A non-refundable application fee
of $10 is required with each application.
This fee, along with the quality of the
application, will serve as an indicator
of seriousness of the artist’s intent.
Participating artists are required to
attend an orientation meeting and a technical
rehearsal.
Completed applications may be mailed to:
DramaRama, Inc.
P.O. Box 58175
New Orleans, LA 70158-8175
or hand-delivered to the Contemporary
Arts Center at 900 Camp Street. Completed
applications may also be emailed to info@dramarama.org.
NOTE: Artists/groups submitting
their applications via email may include
links to music, video, and photos online
instead of sending hard copies of their
supporting materials--in fact, we would
prefer this to receiving dvds, cds, and
other press kit materials!
Late applications may be accepted
but not juried.
